HKGAA was founded in 1995 and many of its founding members are still living in Hong Kong today. Hong Kong is a transient city meaning the number of people wearing the HKGAA colours over the years is vast. We have former members and players scattered around the world but they are kept abreast of club activities via our social media platforms and our regular newsletters.

The club is putting alot of time and resources into the development of its underage section to safeguard the future of GAA in the city. Many members are here over 10 years and have children who they are keen to have involved in GAA. HKGAA has recieved great support from the GAA in Ireland as we continue to grow year on year.

We are one of the most successful clubs in the region winning the Derek Brady Trophy on a record 7 occassions. In the past the club have participated in the Kilmacud 7’s tournament and various regional tournaments in Asia with varying degrees of success. In 2005, the club hosted the Vodafone All Stars and in 2003 & 2010 hosted the Asian Gaelic Games which was a huge success. 2010 was also the first year that HKGAA entered a hurling team in the AGG and emerged victorious in the final. This was done with the assistance of some friends from Shanghai and Taiwan. The club has also had varying levels of success in the ladies section, last winning the A competition in 2004. Every year, the club sends 2 mens teams and 2 ladies teams to the Asian Gaelic Games.
